Review by Tom Betress: I purchased Hard Drive Mechanic. I am a network engineer, teach in the computer science division at a college and have my own consulting business. I have come across many problems that appear to have no explanation for cause and sometimes no FIX either. I was working on a machine for a company that had a "hard drive crash". All their accounting information was on there with no backup. Couldn't access the drive no matter what utilities I tried. thought it was a gonner for sure. I tried Norton Util, MicroScope, etc., and no luck. Review by Anthony Dhanendran: Your computer's hard disk can be divided into partitions to make it easier to manage. HD Manager allows you to change and adjust these partitions to suit your purposes. Alternatively, if you have only one partition, you can use HD Manager to split it into two or more. Why would you want to do this? Suppose you wanted to give Linux a try without upsetting your existing system, or wanted to create a separate space to store music or video clips. Normally you would have to wipe the whole disk and start again from scratch, but HD Manager allows you to rearrange things while leaving everything else as it is. It has a simple enough menu system: you select the options you want, and tell it to apply the changes. Rebooting may be needed, in which ... (4/5 - 14-Mar-2005)

Review by Nelson Ma: This software really worked well for me. My hard drive crashed and would no longer boot up. I figured I would try this drive mechanic software before I reformat the disk and loose all my data. I'm happy to say that my hard drive is back working and I was able to recover everything. The problem was a "damaged partition table" and crossed linked files.. or something like that. For anyone thinking about buying the hard drive mechanic... it comes with a 30 day money back guarantee.
