Review by Tom Betress: I purchased Hard Drive Mechanic. I am a network engineer, teach in the computer science division at a college and have my own consulting business. I have come across many problems that appear to have no explanation for cause and sometimes no FIX either. I was working on a machine for a company that had a "hard drive crash". All their accounting information was on there with no backup. Couldn't access the drive no matter what utilities I tried. thought it was a gonner for sure. I tried Norton Util, MicroScope, etc., and no luck. Review by Nelson Ma: This software really worked well for me. My hard drive crashed and would no longer boot up. I figured I would try this drive mechanic software before I reformat the disk and loose all my data. I'm happy to say that my hard drive is back working and I was able to recover everything. The problem was a "damaged partition table" and crossed linked files.. or something like that.

Instead of playing the DVD, it starts loading from the disc, and freezes the computer before the disc is "loaded". Never got beyond a screen saying "loading please wait - 6%".
This method would work great except that for software that is distributed to end-users - it wouldn't work too well, considering they either need XP or the WMI classes installed AND they need admini...

Despite their advertising, ShareCalendar IS NOT COMPATIBLE with Outlook 2007. It crashes the system. Because I was a few days beyond their return policy when I spent the time to trace the problem...
