Hide Tray Icon Soft

Review by YuM: Have you ever noticed that the way in which Windows desktop shortcuts behave is lamentably inconvenient?! There is no chance to have them well-organized, unless you move each icon explicitly to its place. The DKS Icon Manager claims to change all that. I've been using it for only about 3 days, but can definitely say - it shall not be removed soon. ;) I have organized my desktop icons once and then saved the layout with the DKS Icon Manager; I am no longer worried that Windows will mess it up. Another indispensable feature - is the possibility to have separate icon sets for each computer user or workspace, the number of stored layouts is virtually unlimited! My comfort costs much more than the DKS Icon Manager does, so they've already got... (5/5 - 3-Apr-2005)

Review by Richard Smith: This product has a decent user interface and reasonable features. Unfortunately it has one that crashes your computer. The feature sets up an icon in the task bar so that selected folders can be hidden with a quick mouse click. Also, the user can select a timer to hide the files/folders when no mouse activity is detected. If you happen to get distracted so that the timer expires, or if you click the icon, AND Explorer happens to be open with the "to be hidden" files listed in the window, the computer reboots with Windows reporting a serious error. PC-Magic Customer Support was defensive and contentious. This appears to be a short-cut method (ha-ha) to hide the folders by forcing a reboot. Unfortunately all other open work is lost.
